When someone says we all have a book inside us does the sequel to 'After the Ecstasy, the Laundry' spring to mind?

Faced with a problem one of the many voices in our head is often a parent or former teacher saying' Come on - THINK!' But that's just the problem - so often we've already done far too much of that; our left brain is on the floor surrounded by empty coffee cups and biscuit crumbs in dire need of a spa break.

Great, inspiring leaders know the importance of going into the right mind for the right answers. The left brain's logic and analytical powers are best used in service to the right brain's vision and creativity.

In the April Issue of Soul and Spirit I explain:

I'm frequently contacted by readers for advice on how to advertise their service or product to the right people. I liken it to creating a beautiful venue which your marketing then needs to create attractive doors for. These need to be in carefully chosen places where the people you want to attract are welcomed in.

Unfortunately marketing tends not to be part of many holistic training courses but is essential if you want your service to support you. I've been lucky that my corporate background included Sales and Marketing as well as the fact that I enjoy Marketing as a creative process in itself.

Marketing is mainly about locating information, asking yourself the right questions and applying common sense. Then you need to be willing to invest time and money either in learning new technology such as newsletter packages or be prepared to spend money with people who have already taken that road and can offer you a vehicle in which you can hitch a lift.

One Marketing Coach specialising in the holistic field such as therapists is Bernadette Doyle of Client Magnets. I find her approach rather full-on, but her material is fantastic and you can adapt it to suit your own style.

Why Enewsletter adverts are effective
Bernadette said in a recent Masterclass that advertising in Enewsletters can be a very effective way of reaching your target audience and I'm finding this to be true for myself as well as for people who advertise with me.

So, when it comes to advertising don't be like the man on the roof of his flooded house who sent away a boat and a helicopter saying: 'I've prayed and God will save me", only to end up wet and disgruntled at Heaven's Pearly Gates. "Why didn't you save me?" he asks and God replies:" I sent a boat AND a helicopter - what more do you want?!"
