Are you struggling to commit or to get in touch with your feelings? Do you constantly choose unsatisfying relationships or end up pushing partners away?
These are just some of the issues that can result from war trauma in our ancestral line.

The Price of Loss
War brings so much loss. We may lose family members, our home, our motherland, our faith, our health or our mental or emotional stability. For many there is also survivor's guilt, that they made it when so many didn't. For those from nations who started wars, there may be enormous shame and sorrow at handing such karmic guilt onto their children. Many children also grew up with either absent fathers or a father who came back so traumatised that they developed depression, violent rages, mental illness or in some cases, committed suicide rather than live with the memories. These traumas can affect us from as far back as the Highland Clearings and the Boer War to as recently as the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Passing it on
We come into this lifetime with a genetic inheritance, cellular level memories which can be triggered by events similar to those experienced by our forebears. Sometimes a loss, for example, can trigger such profound grief it can seem out of all proportion to the event. If that happens it's worth looking at where loss has affected your family.

Common Patterns
Men often disconnect from their feelings in order to survive war and they pass on this tendency to their children. Sons have no model of how to be sensitive and male. In an attempt to find love with a parent who has become emotionally absent through unbearable loss, we may join them in their pain. Helping them shoulder their grief may feel at least one way of finding connection and lessen the pain of lack of parental love.

It's difficult to commit or open your heart if you're constantly defending against loss. We may reenact this emotionally unavailable parent-child relationship in our adult partnerships in a vain hope that, this time, we can heal it. Or we may push partners away, speeding up the loss, because waiting for the expected abandonment is too painful.

Intergenerational Transfer of War Trauma

In it, German psychotherapist Dr Peter Heinl feels war plays a significant part in the mental health problems of today's population. He says: '..neither the first world war and particularly the second world war have ended to this day. They are not likely to end for several generations to come.'

The Way Forward
The good news is that, once you've identified the source of loss, you can begin to lovingly unhook from these family loyalties by accepting and acknowledging the past. The best way I know to do this is through a combination of essences to open up deep awareness and consultations which include karmic exercises and rituals. This can be done very effectively even over the phone, though I'd want to talk to you first to get a sense of what's possible.

Helpful Essences
Eucalyptus is so healing for loss. The long fronds of its flowers tell us where it works in the body; in the tiny filament-like structures of the lungs and in the hair-lined nasal passages. We tend to hold grief in the lungs, which is why, physically speaking, this works with asthma, an inability to breathe and take in life force. This is nearly always rooted in karmic grief.

Emerald is a master heart healer which works with patterns related to our father. It works with all kinds of mental illness, often caused by trauma, bringing back mental and emotional stability. It allows for regeneration and recovery.

Ruby is the other major heart healer. It releases anger we may be holding against our father, perhaps for being absent or unable to love us the way we needed. Under that anger is real grief and heartbreak for what might have been, for what should have been. Its blood-red colour shows us that physically it helps our circulation which represents our ability to connect. Ruby allows us to give and receive love once more.

The first hot days of summer have arrived in the UK, so here's an important reminder. Please don't leave soft plastic drink bottles in hot cars or in the sun and then drink from them. Heat may cause certain plastics to leach chemicals into the drink. To find out what kind of plastic the bottle is made of look at the bottom where it should have a recycling triangle with a number inside it. Read more here.

Bottles with #1 in the triangle are designed for single use only. 60 million plastic bottles are disposed of in the USA every day and it requires 3 times as much water to make the bottle as it does to fill it. So be kind to the planet and yourself. Get a bottle that's designed for re-use, fill it with water and take it with you, especially on hot days and when you're going to a concert or the cinema or anywhere you could need a 'top up'.

The water I recommend is Pi Mag water on the link below but, if you can't stretch to a water system, a filter jug is better than bottled water. It saves you money and the planet will say thank you, too.

In the video link below a lady with an inoperable tumour goes to a 'medicineless' hospital in Bejing, China. After teaching her energy techniques, practitioners stand with her chanting and focussing on the image of her being totally well. Meanwhile, on ultrasound, we can see the tumour shrinking in 'real time'. Great proof that the state of our physical body is the outcome of our thoughts, so healthy, positive thoughts are vital for our wellbeing.

Gregg also mentions experiments done by Masaru Emoto on water such as the effect of praying over polluted water and sending water positive energy; experiments we can have fun with ourselves at home.
