I'm continuing to love the Ringing Cedar Series. I'm on Book 6 where Anastasia speaks about the fact that if we plant intuitively we have no need of fertiliser or pesticides which harm the earth and pollute our water supplies. Once upon a time we knew exactly which plants to grow together in a way that would nurture each other, in the same way we can put together a team of people at work with different skills who will enhance each other's strengths.

Brenda Little's book called Companion Planting documents this lost art and I'm finding wonderful parallels in how each plant is used as an essence.

Plant for Protection
For example she suggests that we plant Nasturtium and Parsley around borders and near roses and tomatoes to ward off aphids. From an essence perspective these two plants release limited beliefs and negative thought forms, repelling negativity and bringing in light and protection. I have often noticed that when we have parasitic infections such as candida overgrowth, it feasts on negative thoughts and victim consciousness - the more positive and self-empowered we become, the faster the infestation disappears.

We all have a role
Another aphid repellent is Nettle with its ability to release stress and bring in warmth, light and passion. Nettle essence also enables us to absorb essential vitamins and minerals reflecting the fact that in nature nettles excrete important minerals such as iron as well as protein which nourishes any plants around it. Think again before you pull it out as a weed. Just because we can't see the point of it in our garden doesn't mean it doesn't have an important nurturing role to play. Like the least popular member of a team, it might be providing the edge that everyone needs to motivate themselves.

The Popularity Essence
Unsuprisingly Borage the courageous, optimistic, team bonding essence seems to be the one everyone wants to hang out with. Strawberry, the 'let's have a laugh and party' essence, loves borage's optimism, growing bigger and better tasting fruit when it's close by and Spinach, the 'let's stop fixing everyone else and sort out our own stuff' essence is also a huge borage fan, drawing on its faith and courage.

The Office Diva
Potato essence, works to release prejudice and the need to be special, preparing us for an inpouring of light. As a plant it's so fussy about who it shares a bed with it's definitely the office diva and will actually stunt the growth of some plants such as Tomato, the spiritually powerful go-getter essence, sabotaging its attempts to move forward, doing the equivalent of spreading nasty rumours about it around the water cooler!

Pest Control and Facilitation
Dill, on the other hand, loves being around Tomato - and Carrot, which you can rely upon to get to the root of the situation(!) In the garden and in the office team, Dill lures away pests. (Brenda's words, not mine) It brings objectivity to any need to moan or obsess. Dill lightens any gloom in the atmosphere bringing in flexibilty to any rigid attitudes and helping us express ourselves clearly and openly - the essence of good teamwork.

The funny thing was that she couldn't remember where she'd read the idea of money expressing appreciation . That's what I call, quite literally, karmic payback!
