I was asked recently if using essences was compatible with other therapies. My answer is a resounding YES! Essences draw issues to the surface, so any release work you do speeds up the healing process. I absolutely encourage people to work with their whole self, not to feel that they should choose between psychotherapy or rebirthing, essences or trance dance.

The Importance of Holistic Treatments
Each of us have spiritual, emotional, physical and mental aspects - all of which are treated with essences. For instance Blackberry essence works emotionally with a fear of death, mentally with a tired, uninspired mind, spiritually it opens us to higher wisdom and physically it helps us absorb Vitamin E and Iron and increases fertility.

Because I believe strongly in treating the whole person, consultations with me don't just include essences but also hands on spiritual healing, counselling to help mental and emotional processing and suggestions to support physical health. This is the combination I've trained in and which has proved most effective.

Why 'Seeing What Works' Isn't Always Best
I often hear people say that now they've started a new regime, such as supplements, they'd better delay another treatment so they 'can see what works'. Sometimes I think this stems from an old belief that there is some 'magic bullet' which will provide a solution.

Firstly, we're very likely to need more than one type of treatment to resolve a problem. Secondly, by only treating one aspect of ourselves at a time we aren't allowing for the far more effective way of treating several inter-related parts at the same time. In the same way, taking one essence is not nearly as effective as taking a blend where they catalyse each other, supporting each other's effects.

Let's not lose sight of the goal, which is to feel better, not to carry out some intellectual experiment on ourselves!

I recently read Busting Loose from the Money Game by Robert Scheinfeld. Despite the cover and title which I found rather off-putting, the content was great. Robert talks about the age-old mystical premise that this 'reality' is nothing more than a projection; that we're acting in a film of our own creation, or 'playing the Human Game' as he puts it. I liked the Game analogy as it fits so well with the Transformation Game, allowing us to play a Game within a Game!

Robert also appears, together with many other inspirational thinkers such as Joe Vitale, in a recently released film called Leap! The film, which at times has a slightly home made feel, deals with the nature of reality: what are the implications of how we live, knowing that 'reality' is made up by us, moment by moment? There are some very interesting answers and a great deal to reflect upon. Around 90 minutes long, it's an ideal film to view in any spiritually-based group as a springboard for discussion.

My favourite comment was when Robert was asked how such an incredibly complex reality could be simply an illusion. To paraphrase his reply he said that if we are such amazing all-powerful creative beings we would need to create something incredibly complex to be able to sustain our interest - we're hardly likely to invent tiddlywinks!

Last year I attended a workshop held by a wonderful German constellation facilitator called Stephan Hausner. He's also a naturopath, cranio sacral therapist and homeopath and his interest is in using family constellation work to resolve chronic illness. He works mainly in Spain, Germany, The Netherlands and South America.
