None of us will emerge from this situation unchanged. The world is asking us to re-examine our priorities, our work/life balance, our family and community structure, our emotional shadow, our ways of thinking, working, exercising, connecting and educating our children.
We all need to refocus old ways of looking at things and be far more flexible in how we respond to a rapidly changing world. For some of us these events could provide an opportunity to awaken to a completely new understanding of our life path, for others it may feel as if the veil of illusion has been pulled back and what lies behind it needs to be dealt with - whether that's our external or internal world - or both.
The key point is to decide how you emerge from the egg. Only you can choose your response in any given moment - and the highest choice is a conscious choice.
So try to be present, to be aware of your reactions and patterns. One thing is certain - we won't be going back to 'normal', because that ship sailed some time ago. Given how many things weren't working in our society and economy that's no bad thing - let's see how we can contribute to the blossoming of new structures, new systems and a more humane set of values.

Bessel Van Der Kolk is the author of The Body Keeps the Score which explains how we hold trauma in the body. He points out that living with inconsistency and unpredictability are key features of trauma and that's exactly what this situation has brought.

Bird feeders seem to be the new theme park for squirrels who are spun like a merry-go-round - determinedly munching the seeds and nuts then staggering dizzily off. This squirrel was fine afterwards, by the way, and is a frequent flier on this particular feeder, providing endless entertainment.

Most of us are paying particular attention to our lung health right now. The surface area of each lung is 50-75 square meters - roughly equivalent to one half of a tennis court.
Given your lungs are actually 85% water and they need to be continuously moistened to work efficiently, that's a lot of water:)
Top tip for water quality: unfortunately bacteria build up in the pipes that lead to our taps and, if your pipes are old, metal deposits may also accumulate. So whether you're washing up, bathing or showering, always run the water for a few minutes before you start, because the initial stream will contain the most bacteria and metals.
Chlorine: if you don't have a water filter then leave your drinking water to stand for a while to allow the chlorine gas to disperse. Likewise with your bathwater.
Unfortunately there's not much you can do to avoid absorbing lungfuls of chlorine in your shower unless you get a filtered shower head, but at least clean your shower head regularly, as a lot of bacteria gather there.
