The one thing most of us find challenging is also one of the elements that's essential for happiness - change

The more we get set in our ways the more stagnant life becomes and the more sluggish we feel. We may prefer to hang out in our predictable comfort zone when we're anxious but eventually we need to try something new to keep ourselves adaptable and resilient.

When we challenge ourselves with something new we have to allow ourselves to be surprised, to be uncertain, to make mistakes, to not know the answers and to trust in the outcome. The more we do this the stronger we become and the better equipped we are for what's to come.

Start small. Try a new way to get to familiar places. Try a new food or a new brand. Visit a new venue, take up a new hobby or learn a new skill. Even small changes wake you up and take you off autopilot. Life will have more flavour and depth and you'll discover new things about yourself.

Power has a bad spiritual press, but there is such a thing as spiritual power as well as worldly power. Power and worth are linked, as without worth we don't give ourselves a place, and without a place, we don't allow ourselves our power. 

We can also think about power as the shining of your light. To have the right to BE yourself, and to know enough of your own power to allow another to have theirs, if appropriate, that too is power. To have power is to give yourself your place, to shine your light, to stand your ground. Those of us who have been damaged or betrayed by the abuse of power, may and that our own power is a central issue that either enables or hinders our ability to live our life fully.
